Dear Colleague,

I would like to provide you a status of the 9th International Conference on Isotopes (9 ICI) and to let you know of some changes we have had to make.  As you are likely aware, the political and diplomatic situation currently in the region has created uncertainty for many. First, we want to assure you that life continues as usual in Qatar and we remain a vibrant and exciting community. Qatar is still one of the safest countries in the world and our national determination to serve and contribute to the global knowledge remains.

While we expect these disagreements to be resolved soon, the fact is that many meetings and conferences to be held in Qatar have been affected by this continued uncertainty, including the 9 ICI. As a result, we will need to restructure 9 ICI to a smaller more focused topical meeting with plenaries and sessions largely related to isotope production and research and other specific topics outlined on the web page.  We are fortunate to have received many excellent abstracts in these areas and thank the authors for their contributions. New conference deadlines can be found here.

Shortly we will present a revised schedule with our plenary and topical sessions and we encourage you to visit our website for updates and registration information.  We also will be accepting late-breaking posters and some limited number of oral presentations until 4th September and hope you will be encouraged and encourage your colleagues to consider joining us for 9 ICI. We have therefore reduced registration fees and extended early bird registration till 17th September.

We recommend making a room reservation at the Marriott Marquis City Center Doha Hotel or the hotel of your choice (  as soon as possible.  While politics may affect conferences, tourism is still a major part of the Qatar economy and November is great time to visit!

The 9 ICI Organizing Committee and the WCI Leadership remain committed to providing you with an excellent conference experience.  Our focus is to provide a forum to promote technical excellence and ample networking opportunities. At the same time, you will be able to enjoy Qatar’s rich cultural heritage.
We are gratified by the support we have received from so many of our distinguished colleagues and their willingness to help advance this conference. On behalf of the 9ICI Organizing Committee, I want to thank all of you for your support of our work and encourage you to join us in Doha for the 9ICI. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
